The tragic addiction cycle afflicting our communities has produced an opportunity for rampant manipulation, deceit, and profit-making in the growing industry of addiction ‘treatment.’ Our sons, daughters, mothers and fathers are being hijacked not only by substance abuse and its’ legal or health consequences, but also by the negligence or futility of the myriad programs boasting an immediate solution to a lifelong disorder. We quietly feel our hope and finances dwindle as we send our loved ones from one facility to another, constantly incurring unforeseen treatment costs for disappointing results. Founded two decades ago upon principles rarely seen in practice, Discovery Place offers long term programming which tailers recovery plans for individuals, guiding in-patient guests along a path of gradually increasing freedom and diminishing dependence. With over 40 staff members and a ‘guest’ capacity of 25, this mission-motivated non-profit offers elite addiction care for affordable costs to their clients.
Discovery Place is a community of men gaining and maintaining freedom from substances through the marriage of intensive 12-Step Immersion and partnerships with the region’s premier, private practice clinicians. The men in this program are guided in the daily application of actionable keys for maintaining their sobriety, while also addressing the underlying causes of their substance abuse with licensed professionals. Each man leaving Discovery Place’s care does so without the disorienting loss of support associated with typical in-patient programs. Those habits which have been learned and practiced with Discovery Place are repeatable after Discovery Place, and those clinicians introduced by Discovery Place are available to the alumni of Discovery Place. Meaning – Discovery Place knows 30 days is not the end of an addiction but the beginning of its’ treatment.
