Common Questions About Rehab
Do Treatment Centers Need To Be In-Network?
No, oftentimes treatment centers are not required to be in-network. However, some plans will require a steeper coinsurance percentage or copays in order to see a provider that’s not in your network. Other plans may not cover out-of-network services altogether, leaving you responsible for the costs.
Treatment centers do not always need to be in-network. However, check with a United Healthcare representative to determine your out-of-network coverage and the costs you will be responsible for.

Inpatient Rehab Service And Costs
As part of United Healthcare’s short-term medical plans, many individuals’ policies help cover substance abuse programs. An exception to this is the lowest premium plan – Short Term Medical Value – which does not cover expenses related to drug and alcohol abuse treatment. The remaining short-term plans, however, all provide some assistance to policyholders.
Short Term Medical Plus policies and United Healthcare’s more comprehensive plans have around a 20-30% deductible. After paying your deductible, which can range from $1,000 to $10,000, insurance will kick in. It’s important to note that these policies carry a term maximum of $3,000 which means individuals are responsible for anything above that amount.
